Where the story does fall apart a bit is with the development of Cole Phelps. While the overall story was a good once, it just took a little long to get there. I did feel that the game was a bit long after 27 cases (including DLC). It also brings aspects from all the other mysteries together into a grand conclusions.

Arson is the final series of cases and the strongest in terms of story and mystery. They all come together to their own climactic conclusions and often have parts to play in the other cases. The game follows an almost seasonal-style, storyline as you experience the different departments of Patrol, Traffic, Homicide, Vice and Arson. As a beat cop and then detective, you move up through the different departments, solving crimes with your handy notebook, your rigorous interrogation tactics and a sense of justice that is too much for your various partners along the way. You play Cole Phelps, a veteran of the war in the Pacific, just as he joins the LAPD. Noire is, as you might have guessed, a noire detective game set in 1947 post-war Los Angeles. Noire are going to slip in here from time-to-time. I will most likely play more indie games anyway, but games like L.A. As a result, I’m going to review any game I play. Simply put, I don’t have the time to play both indie games and AAA releases. However, times have changed and my circumstances along with them.

I started “Icarus Reviews” six or so years ago to review indie games. Noire is a gem of a noire story hidden in a decent game that is a little bit too long.
